Another Gift card holder and a Birthday Card

After I made my gift card holder, my boyfriend asked me to make one for him to give to his little cousin as well. I said I would as I had just picked up a very cute music themed file from the Friday Freebies at My Scrap Chick that would work perfect with the Itunes gift card he bought her. I added a 2 inch deep pocket at the bottom and a 1/2 inch strip,of the circle patterned paper, in the middle to hold the gift card. As I was getting ready to leave, his Aunt (the birthday girl's Grandmother) said she had forgot to pick up a card and asked if I would have time to make one more birthday card. I told her I would. Below are the results. Mackenzie was almost more excited about the handmade cards than she was with the itunes cards Rick and I got her, and the cash her grandmother gave her! lol TFL

Large Gift card holder

I have a birthday party to attend tomorrow for a brand new teenager, so I figured I would just get her an i-Tunes gift card. I saw this really cute little gift card holder on the Paper Perfect Designs blogspot. It is for a normal size card and the i-tunes gift cards are like 4x6 size, so I just pretty much made my own pattern for the gift card by cutting a 4.5x12" rectangle with rounded edges. Then embellishing the outside with some pretty paper. I decided to put some ink around the inner circle and I really don't like how it looks because it makes the circle seem like it is lopsided lol...ah well guess it will do :) TFL

Valentines

I made several items for Valentines day, even a gift for myself! :)
First off, I found the most incredible site called "Made by Julene" Julene is a British artist who does the most amazing and intricate paper cutting that I have ever seen! I fell in love with so many of her designs and wondered what they would look like in vinyl so I emailed her and asked her permission to be able to convert some of her art into scalable vector graphics just to use for my own personal use and for the occasional gifts. She was very gracious and granted me permission to do so! Yay, I had to try one out right away! LOL the less intricate of the bunch, and it still took me a while to weed, but I love how it turned out and will add it to my seasonal valentines decorations. It turned out so pretty, but my darn flash is just so bright! :( maybe next time I will photograph it without the glass in it to cut down on the glare.

the next project was a heart flap box that I got from the Scrapping Table. It is just very simple but cute and I will give it to my dad filled with Hershey's Kisses.

the last project I undertook this evening, was these cute little matchbook notepads that I made to put into my valentines cards for my friends. The pattern came from My Scrap Chick. TFL and I hope you all have a very wonderful, Happy Valentines Day!

My grandkids and I did their classroom valentines today. They turned out pretty cute, all that is left to do is to put the tags on Lylli's rings. The rings were made with pipe cleaners and Hershey's Kisses. The boy's will say, "Happy Valentines, here is a sweet ring fit for a King" and the girls will say the same except for Queen at the end :)
Coby's valentines were the most time consuming, the back was printed using an image from inkadinkado stamps and the front side robot bodies are made from assorted Hershey mini candy bars and the heads are made with assorted starbursts, giving them some interesting pops of color! :) lol tfl

Valentine Gift for Teachers

My grandkids are really into doing crafts with their Grammy...so I told them they could each make their own valentines present for their teachers. We decided to try a cool project that I saw somewhere online but can't really remember where at the moment :( sorry ....anyway, we used alcohol inks, a can lid, a 2 inch strip of glossy photo paper, some sheer ribbon, glue tape and a 3 inch red pillar candle. These are how they turned out...tfl

Mugs for Annual Fire Banquet

One of my friends is a firefighter and every year they have an Annual Fire Banquet/fundraiser. He asked me to make some mugs for this years benefit. He really didn't have any preference as to what he wanted on them, so I decided I would just do three different maltese crosses with the fire emblems on them. These are the three that I decided to do. The first mug, in case you can't read it, says Courage, Respect, Tradition, Honor. The basic pic that I used was from a color page. I will also be doing 30 car decals for him as well. TFL

Wedding Tile

"Auntdooz" made a tile with this sentiment that one of her customers found on Pinterest. I fell in love with it when I saw it and decided to make one for my Son and Daughter in Law with their names and wedding date on it (they got married last night). They absolutely loved it!

Bridal Party Glasses

I did these bridal party glasses for my daughter in law to be to give to her girls! I found a color page that had this cool dress and decided to try to put each girls name in the split front. I kinda like the way they turned out! To finish them off I added a rhinestone bracelet wrapped in white tissue paper, used champagne colored ribbon to tie them off and placed them inside the champagne flutes :) TFL

Flower Pin

This was my first ever attempt at using the Adirondack alcohol inks. After watching a few of the Tim Holtz videos on you-tube, I decided to try this out. I used the Spellbinders Daisy Patch die cut to cut the flowers out of a soda can with my Cuttlebug. The ink colors I chose were Stream, Cranberry and Eggplant. I stamped on the silver inside of the can. I then poked a small hole in the middle of each flower and used a tiny pink brad to hold them together. Then I simply glued a pin on the back of the flower and here is the result. TFL

Match book Wedding Favors

I made 250 of these little match book favors for my son's wedding. They were so quick, easy and inexpensive!

Materials,
12x12 patterned paper - one page makes 14 favors
paper cutter
staples
printer
individually wrapped mints of your choice (flat mints work best...such as starlight mints, or lifesaver peppermint, spearmint or wintergreen)

Directions:
Cut first strip of paper 12x2 inches, cut the rest of the paper in 2x10 strips (you can cut 2 inches off of the 12x2 strips so that all strips are 2x10). Once all papers are cut, open up word, change the page layout to a custom size of 2x10 size, with margins set to .25 or 1/4 inch all the way around, then click ok, you should now be able to see your printing area as a 2x10 inch space. Click on center to center text and use all caps. Before you begin typing, skip one line (this will give you the space you need for the flap closure) Ok to follow my example you will type the following:

You will then hit return 2 times and type:
WE WERE "MINT"
TO BE
(COUPLES NAMES)
(WEDDING DATE)
They are now ready to print. Once you have printed them, you are going to cut them at 5 inches long.
you are now ready to score them. With the first score being on the "Thank you" end of the strip, you will score at 4 5/8, then 2.5 and 2 inches. Now you are ready to fold them on the score lines. after you have creased the folds, open the match book with the white side facing you, place a mint inside the center of the closure flap and staple it, making sure to staple it low enough to allow for the top closure flap to be able to close. fold your top closure and tuck it in like you would a normal book of matches and there you have it! :)

Now I just did mine pretty plain and simple, but you could use these for a host of ideas...as well as adding other embellishments whatever you like. Hope you enjoyed this short tutorial

Wedding Invitations

Went to JoAnn's in early Dec to get the papers to make my son's wedding invitations (colors are Chocolate brown and Champagne)...did you know that they only carry 20 sheets of any one color at a time? I know it now! To make a long story short, we cleaned them out of every color of brown cardstock that they had and that only totalled 82 sheets so we had to go to another store to try and find some more brown cardstock. No 12x12 to be found anywhere close to my small town so we ended up settling for the smaller sheets of a very pretty chocolate brown. I made 150 all total. TFL

My friend turned 61 today, I taught both of her children when they were in preschool and I babysat for her off and on throughout the years. Now her children are adults with children of their own! Throughout the years we have lost each other for short periods of time as our lives played out but we always seem to find one another again through all the moves and changes in our own lives. She has some very serious medical conditions that keep her house bound so she lives for coffee and friends who drop by on occassion. I used my "Good Friend" File to make her this birthday present and dropped by to visit for a bit today! :) TFL

I did this t-shirt for a firefighter friend of mine for Christmas! He loves Black Helmet gear and has the same pic, that I put on the back of the t-shirt, on the back window of his pickup. The front is a firefighter logo, but instead of all the fire stuff in the middle, I removed that and put the town name with his name and badge number to personalize it a bit more, he loved it! TFL

There are just a few of the projects I worked on today in between wrapping presents and making Christmas candies!
The Mug images are two different logos from the video game Black Ops, which my nephews are totally enthralled with.
The Gourmet Doggie treats (which contain no chocolate) are for some sweet little doggies that belong to some family members. I was going to staple them on to the ziplock, but decided to use some mini brads to hold them on instead, that way their owners can easily remove the bone insignia's and use then for a scrapbook or keepsake without damaging them. The sign is done in aunt Valerie's favorite color - purple~! :) TFL

First off I made a floating frame sign, as a Christmas gift, for my aunt Marilyn who loves to cook.

Then I worked on some stocking stuffers for my grandkids. The Snowman wrapper fits a full size hershey bar and was the friday freebie from My Scrap Chick. The tic tac cover was just a spur of the moment thing, I just cut the covers and then used the christmas tree from the potpourri basket cartridge. TFL

I love making these signs. They make wonderful gifts. The tile was my first try at splitting a font. I watched Denise's from Paper Pastime's tutorial on the Smartbuygal forum. She does a wonderful job at explaining how to achieve this effect. In fact she explains it step by step so there is no mistaking what you need to do next! This one is for my nephew and his family. I know you can't see it in the photo but there is a halo over Renae as she passed away when she was a baby. The halo I did in black as well but it has irridescent stickles on it.

The other two are both for Christmas as well. One is for my boyfriends oldest daughter and the other is for his cousin who is an avid wine connoisseur. I just really liked the the saying, though I am not a drinker...it struck me as funny :) TLF

Crocheted Neck Warmer

I crocheted this neck warmer with the pineapple crochet shape for the ends of the scarf, but due to the long fur, It is really hard to see the pattern unless you examine it close up. I used regular redheart yarn in black along with a single strand of the fringe yarn to make it furry and fuller. It is really pretty in person. The picture doesn't do it much justice. I didn't really have a pattern to follow except for the pineapple part. I winged the rest of it. One end actually threads through the area just above the other end. One more Christmas present down! TFL

At my granddaughter's primary school they have "Pirate Friday" every single friday throughout the year. It helps the kids develop a sense of pride and gets them involved in school spirit. On Friday's the kids are encouraged to wear Red & black to show their school spirit, so I decided to make her a Pirate shirt as a Christmas present. Hope she likes it. The Pirate is on the front of the "Red" shirt which looks kinda "Pink" in the pic (I need a new camera I think!), and the back side has her last name on it. TFL

Crocheted Blanket

This is a Christmas present for my son. As each of my new grandchildren are born, I make them a special blanket as a keepsake. Last year my son asked me why I never made him a blanket, I told him that I did when he was little, to which he replied, "well I want one now that I am big" I thought he was joking and asked him if he was serious and he said, "yes, I am always getting yelled at in the winter by the kids because I steal thier blankets you made them because they are so warm" I just kinda laughed and said, "whatever" So I thought I would supprise him and make him is own "Big Boy" blanket for him to cuddle with...LOL anyway here is what I did for him.
The pattern was kind of fun and was done in granny squares, but in a very different way so that when sewn together, it appears to have dark and light diagonal strips from corner to corner. I used 6 different colors in the blue family. TFL

Anniversary and Christmas

Today I am sharing two items. One was made for my friends who are celebrating 17 years of marriage today and the other will be a Christmas present for my boyfriend's Daughter. I have lots of things to make for Christmas this year, so I thought I would get a head start on some of them, less to worry about later.
Dave & Patty have been married for 17 years and are a true inspiration to those who know them, so I wanted to give them a reminder of their special day 17 years ago. I gave them the gift early this morning, and it was a very emotional gift for them. They really liked it. :)

Tara's front room is decorated in Black/red/white Japanese accents, with the Kanji symbols for love, hope & peace as her centerpiece focal point. I thought this picture would tie in beautifully and add a nice personalization to her already beautiful decorations.

Pokemon Birthday Presents

My grandson called me on the phone a few days ago. His birthday is September 20th and so he had three requests from grandma...A new deck of Pokemon cards (bought), A pokemon t'shirt and some invitations...I knew I wouldn't have time to make 40 invitations and get them to him in time for him to give them out so we compromised. I bought his invitations with matching bags and had them shipped to him so they would be there in time and made the rest for him. He recently joined an official pokemon club that has tournaments, so this was what I came up with for him. The pikachu file is one of Mardenz and the other files came from Rachelle on the Sure Cuts Alot Forum. Thanks to both ladies for sharing thier files! TFL

Patricia enjoys making cards and wanted to know how these designs would trace. They came out beautifully! She used the Amy Chomas holder and a mini gel pen to trace the "Embellished Heart" and the "Angel Trail" files. She stated that you could also use a glitter gel pen to do the tracing if you want color or you could just color them in, but suggested that you use a finepoint if you are tracing something that is very intricate.

My cousin just became a grandma for the first time so I decided to crochet her new baby granddaughter a cute little dress. At her baby shower, everything was of course pinks and purples, so i decided to use Red Heart's Brushed Caress yarn in Turquoise for the top and then their regular worsted weight yarn in Medium Teal for the bottom of the dress because every little girl needs a variety. I think it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself. :) TFL

Repurposed Animal Cracker Jar

My friend needed some goodies for the Cinco De Mayo celebration in his office, so his girlfriend and I took an old animal cracker jar and covered the sides in Red/White/Green strips to resemble the Mexican flag and then added embellishments from the accents cartridge to the sides and top. Sorry the colors didn't show up better but you get the idea. We then filled it to the top with pinata candies. It turned out pretty cute and was a good way to use up the jar and a bunch of scrap paper. TFL

Wedding Favors

My cousin's son is getting married and they asked me to do the wedding favors for them. They are having a spring wedding with the colors black, white andyellow with paisley, here is what I came up with, the only difference in the pic of the seed packet is that I ran the yellow tops through my cuttlebug with the paisley folder... the pic here was a sample to see if this was ok for them. They loved it. TFL

Garden Faeries Tile

Did this tile for a friend who has a spot in her rose garden where nothing will grow. She made a small dirt mound and covered it with moss to look like a thatched roof. She then purchased a fairy door from skymall.com and placed it in the front of the mound. She has little tiles leading from the fairy door to the rose garden, so I made her this tile to put outside in her rose garden. TFL

P.S. Yes I know I spelled it "Faerie"...I purposely used the celtic spelling not the american english spelling of "Fairy"

Kitchen Oil Bottles

Here are a few more oil bottles that I did for a craft show. They are kind of hard to see since they have pics on both sides, the first one is done with my bountiful fruit svg, second one just a simple layered sunflower that I got from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs. I didn't have two different yellows so I used gold for the bottom petals and yellow on top, I kinda like how it turned out. Last one is just a design that I made to wrap around the entire bottle. It is made from just one small flourish that is welded 48 times to make the design. It left these nice little spaces in-between so I just cut some simple flowers from the "Saru's flowers" dingbat and place them in the middle, I think this one is my favorite so far! TFL

4 of my friends work for the State of Idaho and I suprised them each with a gift set of a note pad, a personalized coffee mug and hand sanitizer, the girls are at the front desk while the guys have their own offices, so I included waste baskets with theirs. The guys are huge BSU and Green Bay fans, the girls...well they are just girly girls so I thought flowers and swirls were appropriate for their gifts! Not sure why the letting didn't show on the pink note set, but it is a much darker color than the paper behind it :) TFL

Cute little Tree Pie box

I own a jewelry store called "Blingology" and I made a couple of these little trees for my two best friends and filled them with some super sparkly jewelry from my shop, to hang on their trees. The pie box svg came from "My Cricut Scrapbooking.com" and for the scallops, I just welded a long, thin rectangle with ovals for the scallops. After cutting the scallops out, you just start layering colors from the bottom to the top. I think next time I will arrange them so that the scallops on top sit in the middle of the previous row of scallops...just trim so that the scallops are flush with the edge of the box, fold your box, punch a hole in the top and add ribbon to hang. TFL

Hunting Coffee Cup

I did this coffee mug for my ex hubby for Christmas, I also filled the Toffee Cappuccino containers shown in an earlier post with the Toffee Cappuccino mix I make and gave it to him...yes, I know it is a foreign concept for many that I would give my ex presents still...but we are still best friends, we have kids and grandkids together and we still celebrate all our holidays together with our children and their families and we still exchange gifts with each other. Sometimes people can love and respect one another, they just can't coincide in the same house together! :) lol TFL

This is a super simple little wreath that I made for the front of our house this year. My kids used to make them when they were little and all it takes is a wire coat hanger, shaped into a circle, two boxes of 50 ct. sandwich bags (the fold over kind, not zip) a few picks of your choice and some ribbon. This could be done up very cutely for any holiday, valentines or easter would be super cute! TFL

I saw this super cute little snowman at JoAnns fabrics. It was in a 2x3 frame and the background was on just a plain old burlap backing, no hands or face and they wanted ten bucks for it. Well I decided I would like to do one just a bit bigger and knew I could do it myself for a lot cheaper! My total cost ended up being $3.40. and of course I had to vinyl a face and stick hands! Good Morning Everyone! I am super excited, and always humbled when I am selected as the recipient of a Blog Award.

I found these really cute cake takers at the Dollar store and of course I had to pick some up! I didn't want to do the normal dots etc that I have done before, I wanted to do something different. So what I did was translate the word "Cake" into 16 different languages and plastered them all over the cake taker. I like the simplicity of how it looks, decorated, but can still see what's inside! A friend of mine who makes body scrubs recently went out of business, sad for her but yay for me as I scored 35 of these great containers for 1o cents each! I just did up a quick one to show you what you can do with them. As for me, I make several homemade drink mixes such as Cappuccino, toffee cappuccino, cafe vienna, Bavarian mint cafe, Hot Chocolate and Chai Tea Latte. I am going to vinyl some of the containers with wrap around coffee words and some I will do similar to the one I have posted, but all will contain about a cup and a half of one of the above named mixes. Repurposed shelf

This used to be a little shelf that hold all the essential oils incenses. A friend was going to throw it away because she had sold all of the oils and wasn't ordering any more. Well I got it from her and decided to add some vinyl to spice it up again. I have a friend who loves to burn taper candles and she loves anything that is Celtic or has butterflies or fairies on it. Well this is what I did with it...better than just throwing it away don't you think? :) TFL

I looked everywhere to find a floating frame to make a wedding gift for my friend, but to no avail! I settled on this frame and decided to just remove the 3 picture mat and was going to put some wedding themed paper in the frame to vinyl on. Well, when I removed the mat and paper that it came with, I found this beautiful black lightly textured surface. I had originally planned on vinyling some pretty cream colored flourishes and their names over the top in white. After seeing the background that was already there, I decided to just vinyl directly on that and of course changed my colors to Gold and White and here is the result. Sorry that the pic is a bit blurry, but you get the idea. TFL

One of the desks broke and they were going to throw it away, but my friend knew that I could make something creative out of it so she brought it home to me. Here is the result of what i did with the desktop. It will hang outside my friend's Door for Halloween! Faux Metal Bracelet

Every year I have a tradition with my grandkids ages 2-8 where I keep them for the weekend sometime before Christmas. We bake cookies, make candies and gingerbread houses and of course we have to do something crafty so they have presents to take home to mommy and daddy! I was looking around today when I found this awesome faux metal bracelet. It is made with cardboard (I used heavy cardstock), glue, tin foil and a toothpick (I used an old pen with no ink in it) and paint, can you believe that??? It sounded so simple I just had to try it! This is how mine turned out! I added the crystal in the center of the star to give it a lil added extra bling! Can't wait to see how creative my lil ones will be when making thiers! Note holder

These have to be the simplest lil things to throw together and they would make a great gift for anyone who is in an office or even to put by your phone or computer in your home. Although I just decided to put the word Notes on it, you could certainly personalize it with someone's name and something like "Notes from Kim" or whatever you like, you get the picture.

All it takes to make it is an acrylic picture frame, any size you choose, (mine is 5x7 from dollar tree) scrapbook paper of your choice cut to fit frame (5x7) one inch wide works best...mine was two so I folded it in half and it worked great! Post it note (dollar tree find in 4 pack) and some double sided heavy duty stick scrapbook tape (dollar tree) to adhere post it notes to the frame and embellishments of your choice. The possibilities are endless. I chose to just keep it simple and stamped hello in the corner of the first few pages of the post its and then embellished with vinyl. Super simple project that took me less than ten minutes from start to finish!

Halloween Treat Cups

I found these really cool cups in orange on closeout at our Family Dollar store for .50 cents each. At the time I picked them up I was just thinking, *cool, non spill cups - these would be great for my grandkids!" So of course I picked them up. Well I have since decided that they needed to be decorated lol. I was thinking that this would make a cute and usable alternative to my normal halloween pails filled with candy for them, So I put their names on the front side in their favorite colors, a pumpkin and spider on the back using the Potpourri Cart, and of course I will fill them with goodies! I will give them to my lil angels on Halloween as a very special and lasting treat from Grammy! Thanks for looking! :)
